Plano Milling
A Planomilling machine is a type of metal processing machine tool that uses the linear relative motion between the work piece and a single-point cutting tool to machine a straight tool path. Its cut is resembles that of a lathe, except that it is definitively linear instead of helical. However it can be noted that adding axes of motion can yield helical tool paths as well. A planer looks almost like a shaper, but is larger in size and with the entire work piece moving on a table beneath the cutter, instead of the cutter moving against a stationary work piece. The table can be moved back and forth on the bed below the cutting head by mechanical effort, such as a rack and pinion drive or a lead screw.
Applications
Plano milling machines are widely used in manufacturing industries for the accurate shaping of metals and various other solid components. Various processes such as turning, slot cutting and routing are possible with such equipment. These can be configured according to customer requirement also.
